What is the Law Enforcement Series?
Energy Xtreme’s idle reduction technology, the Law Enforcement Series, utilizes a unique power management system to operate a car’s full electrical system for up to four hours without engaging the engine. The Law Enforcement Series eliminates the number of dead batteries caused by the constant power draw of electrical systems, recharges while the vehicle is driving and can also provide engine ignition power in case of a dead engine battery. Law enforcement departments are using the Law Enforcement Series to save money on wasted gasoline, to slow wear and tear on vehicle engines and to reduce emissions.
How does the Law Enforcement Series work?
The Law Enforcement Series captures excess power from the engine’s alternator and directs that electricity to the vehicle’s on-board electrical system when the gasoline engine is turned off, providing power to mission critical tools, such as lights, radio, laptop and camera.
Is the Law Enforcement Series just a battery?
No. The Law Enforcement Series is a solid state, redundant power management system.
How is the Law Enforcement Series installed?
The system installs into the trunk of the vehicle and fits in most police cruisers, including the Chevy Impala, Dodge Charger, Ford Crown Victoria and Chevy Tahoe. The Law Enforcement Series is connected to the alternator via one wire.
Does the Law Enforcement Series turn a car into a hybrid?
The car is not turned into a hybrid in a propulsion sense as the system does not power the movement of the car. The Law Enforcement Series does, however, enable comparable or even greater savings by allowing the engine to be turned off while still running the full electrical load of the vehicle.
How much money does the Law Enforcement Series save customers?
The money that can be saved varies from department to department and with fluctuating gasoline prices. However, the Law Enforcement Series can pay for itself in less than two years based on data collected from clients’ real-world experiences. For example, the Dallas Police Department uses the Law Enforcement Series for an average of 4.85 hours per day. Assuming 300 work days per year, a gas price of $3.26 per gallon and .75 gallons of gas burned per hour while the vehicle idles, the department goes financially positive in less than two years.
Is it possible to track fuel savings and emission reductions?
Yes. Energy Xtreme’s proprietary software was developed to tap into hardware and report on offset emissions and fuel savings provided by the Law Enforcement Series.
How much trunk space does the Law Enforcement Series take up?
The Law Enforcement Series takes up less than two cubic feet of a car’s trunk space, which leaves room for everything else stored in the trunk.
Is it alright to stack items on top of the IP Law Enforcement Series?
Yes, the PowerCell technology used in the Independence Package® systems maintain a constant temperature while being used, so there’s no need to worry!
Is the Law Enforcement Series only available for police departments?
No. The Law Enforcement Series is commercially available for police departments, utilities, large commercial fleets or any business that operates fleets of vehicles and wants to reduce costs and carbon emissions.
What is the Law Enforcement Series’ primary competitor?
The Law Enforcement Series is truly a unique product. There are other businesses working on solutions; however, most go with a “plug and play” solution in which they combine two already existing products into something new. Energy Xtreme has put years of research and development into the Law Enforcement Series.
Is the Law Enforcement Series safe?
The Law Enforcement Series contains a non-hazardous, solid-state, dry power cell free of any fluids or dangerous acids. It is highly resilient and has been abuse-tested. It is also gunshot safe, can tolerate extreme temperatures and is highly recyclable.
What is the expected life of the Law Enforcement Series?
The Law Enforcement Series lifetime is five to seven years.
How much maintenance does the Law Enforcement Series require?
The Law Enforcement Series requires no fuel, has no moving parts and is maintenance-free. Energy Xtreme staff can train technicians to service and replace any failed equipment.
Is there a warranty on the Law Enforcement Series?
There is a two-year standard warranty with an option available for a third year.
Where is the Law Enforcement Series made?
All material parts of the Law Enforcement Series are manufactured and assembled in the United States.
My car won’t start and the priority start has a red light, what does that mean?
It could mean two things:
- The priority start disengaged because a draw was felt and took the OEM batteries voltage down to 11.7v. Try pushing the brake pedal or turning on the headlights to get the priority start to reengage, if the light turns green then priority start is ready to go.
- The ground connection to the priority start has been broken, check the side of the priority start and make sure the black grounding wire is connected to the priority start.
What do I do when my auxiliary loads which are powered by the Independence Package® shutoff? i.e.; Light bar, radio, laptop.
You need to start the vehicle, once the vehicle is started your auxiliary loads will return to normal operation. Now you need to allow the unit to charge for a minimum of 2hrs before shutting off the vehicle so the Independence Package® has ample time to recharge.
Why does the battery indicator on the Independence Package® show low, but when I start the car it immediately shows that it is full?
The battery indicator is there as a general visual to give you an idea of the unit’s state of charge. The battery indicator depicts voltage; its operating range is 11.6 – 12.6v. If the vehicle is running, the alternator will be outputting ~14v so that is why you see the battery indicator showing full even though the unit was just seen with a low battery voltage. Allow the vehicle to run for a minimum of 2 hours before shutting off the vehicle, so the Independence Package® has ample time to recharge.

What is the Independence Package® Utility Series?
Energy Xtreme’s idle-reduction technology, the Independence Package® Utility Series, utilizes a unique power management system to operate a vehicle’s full electrical system, including electrical equipment and power tools, for up to four hours without engaging the engine. The Utility Series runs silently and replaces generators or inverters. The built-in outlets also allow electrical equipment to be powered in the field without draining the vehicle’s regular engine battery. The system recharges while the vehicle is in operation and can provide engine ignition power in case of a dead engine battery. Fleets are using the Utility Series to save money on expensive equipment, to reduce gas consumption, to slow wear and tear on vehicle engines and to reduce emissions. The Utility Series is available in both a 2,000 watt-hour version and a 4,000 watt-hour version.
How does the Utility Series work?
The Utility Series captures excess power from the engine’s alternator and directs that electricity to the vehicle’s electrical systems when the gasoline engine is turned off, providing power to operate equipment.
Is the Utility Series just a battery?
No. The Utility Series is a solid state, redundant power management system.
How is the Utility Series installed?
The system installs in available space in a vehicle and fits most makes and models. The Utility Series is connected to the alternator via two wires. The power management system has no moving parts and requires no maintenance.
Does the Utility Series turn a car into a hybrid?
The car is not turned into a hybrid in a propulsion sense as the system does not power the movement of the car. The Utility Series does, however, enable comparable or even greater savings by allowing the engine to be turned off while still running the full electrical loads.
